BIBLICAL TEACHING & PREACHING SCHOOL

The Online Biblical Teaching and Preaching School (BTPS) is a dynamic hands-on course, which allows students to gain confidence and begin to develop expertise in the public communication of the Word of God in a way that is relevant and serves their audience.

The aim of the school is to prepare students, who already have a thorough understanding of the Scriptures, for the ministry of teaching and/or preaching in both a local church setting, Christian classroom, and on the mission field. The students learn practical skills in effective communication, and they are given help in focused study and heart preparation.

Alongside the ministry development, there is an emphasis on the student’s continued character growth, recognizing that the authority of a speaker lies in the integrity of their lives. The intended result is the preaching and teaching of a message rooted in an accurate interpretation of the Bible and in the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Online BTPS involves disciplined self-study, written work, and teaching and preaching assignments, with a set time assigned for each module. You will be connected to a staff person who will support you through the course.

Topics include:

  • Foundations for Preacher and Teacher

  • Expository Preaching

  • Communicating with Excellence

  • Devotional Teaching

  • Topical Preaching

  • Ministering to Children and Youth

  • Prepare Teaching for SBS

  • The Holy Spirit's Role in Teaching and Preaching

  • Cross-cultural Communication

The Online BTPS and UofN Course Credit

The Online Biblical Teaching and Preaching School is registered with the University of the Nations (UofN) Online Extensions Studies (OES) program, with 1 credit awarded upon the successful completion of each module. You will be registered with UofN OES and a certificate sent to you upon module completion. If at some point you desire to use the Extension Studies course credit towards a UofN degree, then the credit would be evaluated as other transfer credits. The number of credits that count towards a degree will depend on the subject of the degree and if these credits are appropriate for the degree focus.

The Online Biblical Teaching and Preaching School, when satisfactorily completed, fulfils the requirements for the University of the Nations Communications Core Course. For this equivalency, you need to have completed all the required modules. We offer the full Online Biblical Teaching and Preaching School (lecture phase and outreach), or individual modules from the school.
